Synopsis
English: In Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty, Linh, the youngest and last wife of the district governor is unable to fulfill her obligation to give birth to an heir. Compounding the insurmountable societal pressure she faces from the older wives, a chance meeting between Linh and her childhood love, Nhan, unravels a string of unexpected events that dramatically changes her life.

Victor Vu is a Vietnamese-American film director, screenwriter and producer, born and raised in Southern California. He earned his B.A. in film production from Loyola Marymount University.
The last film by Victor Vu that was theatrically released in the U.S. was Battle of the Brides (2010).
To capture accuracy for The Last Wife, Victor Vu and his team researched many historical sources, including “Kỹ Thuật Của Người An Nam” (Technique du peuple Annamite).
The film won Best Production Design at the 2023 Golden Lotus Awards (Vietnam’s national cinema awards)
The Last Wife brings to screen the style, wardrobe, and beauty of all three main regions of Vietnam – North, Central and South.
